Developer macs18max on the XDA forums has managed to port Android 5.0 Lollipop over onto the device which is actually quite an impressive feat. The Lollipop ROM was ported onto the smartphone using the 3.0.101 kernel but apparently it is still in its very early stages of development.
At the moment only the display and audio functions are said to be working at the moment, but according to the developer, he has promised that he will continue to support the ROM in the coming days and hopefully get more functions up and running. That being said if you have the HTC HD2 sitting somewhere in a drawer collecting dust, perhaps you might be interested in taking it out and taking this ROM for a spin.
Like we said functionality is extremely limited, but your feedback could help macs18max with the progression on the development of the ROM. If you’d like to learn more or download the ROM for yourself, head on over to the XDA forums for the details. In the meantime the HTC HD2 has been on the receiving end of newer Android builds, such as Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and even Android 4.4 KitKat.
