HERE Maps Downloaded 2.5 Million Times Via Google Play Store

If there is one major advantage about HERE Maps, it would be this – you can use it even if your device is offline, which means having maps of foreign countries pre-loaded onto a compatible device so that you can find your way around – all without having to rely on exorbitant roaming data fees charged by your mobile carrier back home, unless you’re tied down to a particular Uncarrier, that is. Well, back to the matter at hand – it seems that the HERE Maps has been downloaded a whopping 2.5 million times through the Google Play Store, HERE.com and Samsung Galaxy Apps – and counting, of course.

This is an official figure that was shared by the folks over at Nokia, where the 2.5 million number does not take into account another one million downloads which happened before the HERE Maps app itself was listed on Google Play, back when it remained as a Beta version. In a nutshell, HERE Maps can be installed on any handset that has Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher.

What kind of navigational app do you use to get around in unfamiliar territory, whether it is a different state back home, or when you are busy exploring other countries in the world? For those who have yet to give it a go, here’s a link to download HERE Maps from the Google Play Store.
