Soon after the BlackBerry Passport was released last year pictures of a gold version appeared online. The unit seen in those pictures was a black BlackBerry Passport with gold-colored metal frets and trim. The company didn’t say if it was an option that would later offer to customers and it wasn’t known for sure whether it was the work of a third party. There are several companies in the market who can gold-plate a Passport but it appears an official gold BlackBerry Passport limited edition is around the corner.
Crackberry points towards a new listing on the ShopBlackBerry Canada website which details a Limited Edition BlackBerry Passport – Black and Gold.
There will be nothing different about this particular model apart from the fact that its going to have a black and gold color scheme.
The description of this listing says that this is BB’s “most exclusive product to date.” Apparently only 50 units of the Gold BlackBerry Passport will be sold worldwide. These units will be engraved with “Limited Edition” as well as the production number.
The price listed on ShopBlackBerry Canada for these units is $999, significantly more than the Passport’s retail price of $599, but it will give you bragging rights about owning one in 50 gold BlackBerry Passports.
As someone who owns a Passport, I certainly wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one!
