Majority of Samsung’s devices compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop will receive the much awaited update in early 2015. That’s a vague timeframe that we have right now as Samsung hasn’t confirmed the roadmap yet. While many previews of Lollipop ROMs for various Samsung devices have already been seen there haven’t been many leaks but there’s one today for people who own a Galaxy S4.
Seemingly originating from China a Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 ROM with TouchWiz has been leaked online. Android 5.0.1 is the first incremental update that Google released for Lollipop and is currently the latest version of Google’s mobile OS.
XDA community members who have already spent considerable time testing out the leaked Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 ROM report that there are no major bugs and that main features like Wi-Fi, 3G/4G data and all sensors work fine though certain system messages are likely to appear in Chinese due to the firmware’s locale.
This Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 leaked ROM is said to be work with certain models of this smartphone, GT-I9500, GT-I9502, GT-I9508, and the GT-I9508v to be precise, the notable omission is that of the GT-I9505 which is powered by the Snapdragon 600 processor.
The leaked ROM can be found over at XDA forums along with all of the flashing instructions. Bear in mind that this is an unofficial build from an unofficial source so you would assume all risk that comes with flashing such software.
