A new report from G4Games has revealed that not only will Foxconn begin helping Apple produce displays in limited capacity in 2016, but interestingly enough these displays will be of the OLED variety. This comes from Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, a leading newspaper in Japan whose report was translated by the folks at G4Games.
The displays are expected to be used for smartphones and wearables. Like we said this will be an interesting move by Foxconn and Apple as the Cupertino company has typically relied on the use of LCD panels for a while now, not to mention LG Display has been one of Apple’s primary supplier of display panels for the Apple Watch.
The shift to Foxconn, despite it being on a limited basis, is an interesting move and could possibly tell us the future of Apple’s plans, if the rumors are true to begin with. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but in the meantime what do you guys think of Apple using OLED displays in future products? Yay or nay?
