Epic Four Hour StarCraft 2 Game Leads To One Player Getting Disqualified

If you’ve ever watch professional StarCraft 2 matches, they can run pretty short. This is because the pros know when they’ve lost and when they should just call it and move on to the next game. However it seems that some just aren’t very sporting, as is the case with a game involving Danish player Steffen “Lillekanin” Hovmand and Finnish Zerg player Wenlei “ZhuGeLiang” Dai.

How long did it take those players to finish the game? A whopping four hours. How does that even happen, you ask? Well it seems that Hovmand decided to employ the turtle strategy and as a Terran, he floated all his buildings away to safety, all of which were guarded by Ravens which could generate free and smaller units.

The game lasted so long that eventually all the resources within the game had run out and it got to the point where Hovmand decided to throw all his units at Dai, typing “IM A TERRORIST” in the process. It seems that this behavior, along with the fact that Hovmand was caught surfing social media while the match took place, led to him being disqualified from the remainder of the first season of WCS 2015.

While floating your buildings away is a legitimate strategy, perhaps this game could serve as a wakeup call to Blizzard to balance things even further to prevent similar scenarios from happening in the future.
