Drone enthusiasts will know many of DJIs products. Recently it unveiled the Inspire One drone which has a 4K camera that this company built by itself. Today at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in Las Vegas DJI unveiled a new handheld mount for the Inspire One lineup that is impressive in both form and function.
DJI is pretty popular with drone enthusiasts and it has also carved out a niche itself in the film industry. In some countries the DJI Phantom drones are even used by news channels for aerial coverage. Needless to say the new Inspire One mount is going to be very useful for filmmakers operating on a very tight budget, and I’ll explain why.
The Inspire One camera mount has the same technology that DJI introduced in its drone gimbal, which is used for stabilizing shots, so video captured with the handheld mount isn’t going to be all shaky and blurry. Users can switch between two modes, one keeps the camera locked on an area of focus and the other tracks the user’s movement. A connected smartphone can function as the viewfinder which analog controls are also present for easy control.
This means that filmmakers who have a DJI Inspire One drone can get more bang for their buck because the mount lets them capture handheld and aerial shots using the same 4K camera, no separate costly equipment is required.
DJI isn’t saying yet for how much the Inspire One camera mount is going to retail, but tells us to expect it to land at some point in the second quarter of this year.
