[CES 2015] Celluon has just announced their PicoPro and ProAir projectors, where these happen to be the only high definition, focus-free smartphone-sized laser pico projectors that are in the market to deliver an immersive viewing experience at any one time – regardless of the place. Both of them intend to offer superior image quality alongside screen size without losing focus. Being small enough to fit into most pockets, these are also capable to be used for an extended period of time of up to 3.5 hours at best, which is enough to let you watch a full length feature movie.
Making use of MicroVision’s patented PicoP display technology, it will rely on red, blue, and green laser light sources. Celluon’s PicoPro and PicoAir will then produce a perpetually clear, focused HD image complete with a broad color gamut that remains unmatched – or so Celluon claims.
The PicoAir would target Android users, while the PicoPro would most probably be the choice for Apple enthusiasts. Shared hardware specifications between the two include 1920 X 720p HD resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio, being in focus at all times without the need for a focus wheel, measuring a mere 6” x 0.5”. Not only that, if you do not have a speaker with you, fret not – the PicoPro and PicoAir will both come with a 1W speaker and 3.5mm audio jack. They offer a 80,000:1 contrast ratio, 30 ANSI lumens brightness, Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI support, and will arrive in black, white, gold and gray shades. Pricing starts from $299 and it will go all the way to $450, depending on the bundling options.
