One of the first things that happened at BlackBerry after restructuring at the very top was BBM being considered as a completely separate entity. Since then cross-platform messaging service has grown considerably and has been quick to add new features. BlackBerry didn’t show off any new hardware at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in Las Vegas but the team, including CEO John Chen, is on the ground and making waves. The company has announced that BBM is coming to Android Wear.
BBM for Android Wear brings some of the most common BBM features out of the app and onto the smartwatch. This will be great for people who communicate using BlackBerry Messenger, they will have the ability to peek at the message on the wrist even if their hands are full.
After from being able to read a BBM users will also be able to review and accept invites from potential BBM contacts. Since typing isn’t ideal on smartwatches BBM for Android Wear provides many pre-defined messages to quickly respond to contacts, otherwise users can simply use their voice and Google Now to respond to BBM messages completely hands-free.
BlackBerry has announced BBM for Android today but hasn’t confirmed the release date. The company says it will be available “soon.”
