august-connectAugust knows that every man’s home is his castle – and hence, castles are supposed to convey a feeling of security, but somehow when you scan through the news in the morning papers, it is rather depressing to hear of people being robbed right in their very own homes. August intends to offer much needed peace of mind with the August Connect, a spanking new hardware device that will offer the August Smart Lock alongside a constant Internet connection so that residents in the house will have remote access even when they are away.

How does the August Connect work? Well, it will need to be plugged into a power outlet within the home of an August Smart Lock user, before being hooked up to their home wireless network and of course, the Internet. Such a connection would pave the way for a slew of new features, including the ability for a user to check on the status of their lock remotely, as well as to operate it using the August mobile app (which is compatible for both iOS and Android platforms).

Apart from that, such functionality would also allow residents to enable select guests to come in remotely, ranging from various service providers such as as contractors, dog-walkers, and the pizza delivery guy, at the same time receive notifications where lock activity is concerned – every single one of them.

Expect August Connect to be made available for pre-order for $49.99 a pop, with a mid-February delivery date being targeted. [Press Release]
