If you’re in the market for a new smartphone or a tablet but don’t really feel like spending too much money on it, you might be interested to learn that Archos has recently announced one new smartphone and a trio of tablets ahead of CES 2015. These devices might not necessarily pack the best hardware, but if you something affordable with LTE connectivity, perhaps they might be worth checking out.
Starting with the 50 Diamond, this is a 5-inch Full HD 1080p smartphone from Archos. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM. It will support microSD for memory expansion on top of its default 16GB of storage, and will also feature a 16MP rear-facing camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, and dual-SIM support. Nothing too fancy but we imagine it should be good enough to get the job done and then some.
As far as tablets are concerned, Archos has also announced the 70 Helium 4G, 80b Helium 4G, and the 101 Helium 4G. These tablets are basically different in their display sizes at 7-inches, 8-inches, and 10-inches respectively. They will all be powered by a MediaTek 1.5GHz chipset with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with microSD card slot for memory expansion, 2MP camera for the 7-inch and 8-inch tablets, while the 10-inch model gets a 5MP camera.
Pricing and availability of Archos’ new products has yet to be revealed, but based on these specs, we doubt that it will be breaking the bank, that and the fact that Archos has been known for their affordable products, but either way do check back with in the future for more details.
