For all of 2014, developers brought in record revenue of $10 billion from selling apps, and in-app purchases. There was strong demand for paid apps all over the first week of 2015, and I supposed this had to do with consumers who unwrapped new smartphones and tablets over the holiday period wanted to fill it up. In fact, the first week of 2015 alone saw App Store customers spend a whopping $500 million on apps and in-app purchases, which also happens to be a brand new record.
Eddy Cue, Apple senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, shared, “This year is off to a tremendous start after a record-breaking year for the App Store and our developer community. We’re so proud of the creativity and innovation developers bring to the apps they create for iOS users and that the developer community has now earned over $25 billion.”
