This means that KitKat has seen a leap of 5.2% in a single month which is admittedly rather impressive. As expected older builds of Android such as Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread, and Froyo have all been on the decrease, with Gingerbread possibly taking the biggest dip of 1.3% in distribution.
Oddly enough Google has yet to include Android 5.0 Lollipop which was released about two months ago. We can’t be sure why that is – it could be that the distribution numbers for Lollipop are too low for Google to bother even listing it, or it could be that Google would rather not have Lollipop’s distribution being factored into Android’s overall distribution, at least for now.
In any case hopefully next month we will start seeing some Lollipop figures being included in the Android distribution figures, so do check back with us then for the details.
