With several different smartphone platforms that one can choose from at the moment, it is safe to say that we’re spoilt for choice. You might like the features of a particular platform, but you might not like its design or its lack of apps or the lack of hardware that you can choose from, so what can you do?
Well the good news is that Alcatel OneTouch has you covered. The company has recently unveiled the Pixi 3 smartphone, but unlike its predecessors, the Pixi 3 will not run on “just” Android, but instead will be able to run Android, Windows, and Firefox OS. Unfortunately it is unclear as to how exactly this will work.
Based on the press release, it is unclear as to whether users can just toggle between the different operating systems on their phone, or if Alcatel simply means that users can choose which operating system they want to run at the time of purchase, but otherwise the phone’s hardware will be pretty much the same across the board.
The Pixi 3 does not appear to be of the high-end variety and will come in a variety of screen sizes ranging from 3.5-inches up to 5-inches. The 3.5-inch model will only support 3G connectivity while the larger models will support 4G LTE. Pricing and availability remains unknown for now, but hopefully we will learn more at CES 2015 next week.
