So why is this good news? Well according to Alcatel OneTouch, the company’s smartwatch will come with a “smart price tag”, whatever that means, which hopefully will translate to it being an affordable device. Also given the rendering in the image above, it looks like Alcatel will be following in the footsteps of Motorola and LG by releasing a smartwatch with a circular display.
Also based on the image, it looks like Alcatel will have more than one type of band available for users to choose from. From what we can tell it looks like there will be a metal band to choose from, and also what appears to be a leather band, although it is possible that it could be of the rubber variety.
Unfortunately Alcatel neglected to mention the full specifications of their smartwatch or what operating system it will run on, but presumably we can look forward to Android Wear being its OS of choice, unless Alcatel decides to surprise us with their own platform, but either way do check back with us next week for the details.
