However oddly enough it seems that the mobile version of Lightroom for Android has only been designed for handsets. This means that if you were hoping to edit photos on your Android tablet, you’re out of luck. Instead you will have to resort to using your Android phone. We’re not sure why Adobe chose to launch on phones first, but the company has assured that a tablet version is on its way.
That being said, the Android version of Lightroom is similar to the iOS version. It is free for download although users will need a subscription to Creative Cloud in order to use it. However the mobile version is a bit limited as it basically provides users with the Basic Panel and cropping tools. More advanced editing features like expanded preset support are expected to be added later.
For those who plan on getting their hands on the app, we should point out the requirements for it. You will need to have a Android phone running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or higher, a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.7GHz, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage that isn’t from your microSD card. The app is available for download via the Google Play Store.
