Laptops are pretty standard these days, but if you were looking for a laptop with more unique capabilities, Acer has recently announced the V 17 Nitro notebook. This is a laptop that will come with Intel’s RealSense 3D camera, which for those unfamiliar is similar to the Microsoft Kinect in the sense that it allows users to interact with the laptop without having to touch it.
The camera will be able to recognize gestures, so if you’d rather not use the keyboard and mouse, you’d still be able to surf the web and navigate between pages using gestures. However the camera can do more than that as it is able to 3D scan objects and even generate 3D models which users can then 3D print on their 3D printer if they choose to.
Acer will also be bundling a couple of new applications that will take advantage of the RealSense 3D camera. That being said as far as hardware specs are concerned, the Acer V 17 Nitro notebook will feature a 17.3-inch Full HD IPS display. It will be powered by a 4th gen Intel Core i7-4710HQ quad-core processor.
It will also come with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M GPU with up to 4GB of DDR5 VRAM. The laptop will also support up to 16GB of RAM and will come with either 128GB or 256GB SSDs and up to 1TB of regular HDD storage. The laptop has also been designed to be an entertainment device as it will sport four built-in speakers with Dolby’s Digital Plus Home Theater technology. Pricing has yet to be determined but the laptop should be available for purchase starting this month.
