While our smartphones are perfectly capable of playing music, the additional drain to its battery life might put some users off. Not to mention our storage space tends to be rather limited, unlike dedicated media players like the iPod that came with amazing battery life and a ton of storage space, all of which can be used for music.
As you might have heard, the iPod classic has been sadly discontinued but if you’d like to get your hands on an early iPod prototype, you can. It has been spotted on eBay that an iPod prototype has been put up for auction. As this time of writing, the bid for the device is sitting at $4,495 so if you’d like to get your hands on it, prepare to pay more than that.
This particular prototype is very obviously not the prototype of the original iPod. According to the seller, this is supposedly the prototype of the 4th generation iPod and based on the photos, it looks pretty banged up. There is an engraving of “DVTS” at the back which basically stands for “Design Verification Testing”, indicating its prototype status.
There are also labels affixed to the iPod which specifies the components found in the media player. The device in question also appears to be fully functional as evidenced by its screen which has been turned on. So, will you be making a bid for it?
