We have brought you word on how Game of Thrones is the most pirated TV series for the year, and to the “credit” of the series’ team, that mantle has been “awarded” to them for the third year running. It seems that for 2014, Martin Scorsese’s true-life tale of corrupt New York stockbrokers, known as Wolf of Wall Street, has picked up the gong for being the most downloaded movie of 2014 – illegally, of course.
Right behind Wolf of Wall Street that racked up 30 plus million downloads by torrent users would be the extremely famous Disney cartoon Frozen at 29.357 million downloads, and in third place would be the 3D extravaganza known as Gravity. When the Wolf of Wall Street was first shown in the US, with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the role of real-life stockbroker Jordan Belfort, it did rake up a fair amount of controversy since it had plenty of sex scenes and drug-taking. Not only that, it had over 500 uses of the F-word – throughout the entire three hour run time.
Among the top 20 most pirated movies of 201, they include Oscar nominees such as 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and Captain Phillips. Have you jumped aboard the torrent bandwagon at all this year, or is your computer as clean as a whistle?
