There was also the possibility that Microsoft will integrate Cortana with Windows 10. We now know that this is indeed going to happen. The Windows 10 Technical Preview didn’t show off Cortana integration but we did get a peak when a video of the feature was released. Now a Windows 10 leaked build has appeared online, providing us a glimpse of the various consumer focused features in the upcoming iteration of Microsoft’s operating system.
This leaked build reveals for the first time how Cortana is placed front and center in the search interface. It is capable of responding to both voice and text commands. Features are similar to the Windows Phone version even if not all of them are working in this particular build.
It is worth mentioning here that the Cortana integration seen in this build is most likely going to be improved. There is still a lot of time before this update is due to be released and we expect Microsoft to make significant improvements in future builds.
A new Xbox app also comes with the Windows 10 leaked build. It provides a way for users to access the Xbox ecosystem through their Windows 10 device. At this stage it doesn’t have SmartGlass integration but might do at some point in the future.
Microsoft has an event scheduled in January where it’s likely to reveal features of the consumer version of Windows 10. The software itself is expected to release later on in 2015.
