Could WhatsApp finally be listening to the demands of their users? Well according to Dutch website AndroidWorld (via Cult of Android), the answer is yes. Peeking into the code of WhatsApp beta for Android, AndroidWorld discovered several lines of code that makes reference to the ability to send messages via the web.
This stemmed from an interview TechCrunch had with WhatsApp rival Telegram, where the founder revealed his suspicions that WhatsApp could be working on a web client after they tried Telegram’s web developer. Of course it remains to be seen if such a feature will ever see the light of day, but it will be interesting if it does.
In some way it doesn’t come as a complete surprise. With Facebook owning WhatsApp, and with Facebook Messenger allowing a similar functionality that allows messages to be sent via the web version of Facebook, it could be that Facebook wants a similar feature for WhatsApp as well, but what do you guys think? Are you on board with the idea?
