Tommy Hilfiger is a brand known for their clothing, but it looks like they are trying to merge both fashion and technology into one. The company has recently teamed up with solar manufacturer Pvilion and have launched a pair of jackets, one for men and one for women, that will come with solar panels installed in the jackets that will allow users to charge their phone as they go about their daily business.
From the front (pictured above) the jackets look quite normal and sport a tartan design. However once you look behind (see photo below), the solar panels are quite obvious. We can’t say we’re digging that look at it does look a little odd, but hey if you’re all about going green and want to take advantage of the sun, no one’s stopping you.
There will be a built-in battery connected to the solar panels and when fully charged, it should allow users to recharge 1,500mAh devices up to four times, so safe to say there will be a lot of juice. However they did not mention how long it will take to fully charge the battery via the sun, so your mileage might vary.
The jackets are a tad pricey at $599 and it should be noted that they are limited edition models, so if you want to get your hands on them, you can do so via Tommy Hilfiger’s website (men / women). 50% of the proceeds are also expected to go towards the Fresh Air Fund.
