A report from a few days ago suggested that the Windows Phone 8.1 update for Sprint’s HTC 8XT would arrive before the end of the year. Well the good news is that HTC 8XT owners won’t have to wait until the very end of the year to get it because according to reports the update has started to roll out to HTC 8XT users.
This is according to the folks at Windows Central who have received tips that the update has begun to make its way onto HTC 8XT devices. There is a good chance that the update could be staggered, so if you’re a HTC 8XT owner who has yet to receive the update, fret not as we expect that the update will eventually make its way to you in the next few days or so.
The update will introduce pretty much the same features that other Windows Phone users have received in their updates. This includes folder support, background support on the start screen, access to Microsoft’s voice assistant Cortana, action and notification centers, VPN, and so on. In some ways HTC 8XT owners should be pleased with the update, especially when Sprint is no longer selling the device.
Sprint has also recently mentioned that they have no plans of offering newer Windows Phone handsets in the near future, so we guess at the very least they are keeping their existing Windows Phone handsets up to date. So HTC 8XT owners, have you received your update yet?
