So we have been hearing rumors about the upcoming Sony Xperia Z4 and Z4 Ultra which covers the smartphone part, but what about a new tablet? Sony has typically released new tablets alongside its new smartphones, so a Xperia Z4 Tablet makes sense, right? Well according to Chinese website Padnews (via TechRadar), Sony has a new tablet in the works called the Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra.
As the Ultra name implies, this will be a larger tablet than what Sony has produced in the past and could feature a 12.9-inch display. The shift to larger tablets appears to be a new trend, one that was kicked off by the likes of Samsung with the Galaxy Note Pro and Microsoft with the Surface Pro 3. In fact the rumors are suggesting that Apple could be getting in on 12-inch tablets as well.
Moving on, the spec sheet for the Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra appears to be quite impressive. The 12.9-inch display is said to pack a resolution of 3840×2400. Under the hood, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset can be found clocked at 2.86GHz, followed by 64GB of onboard storage along with a whopping 6GB of RAM, which we have to say seems highly suspect.
The tablet is also rumored to come with a HDMI 1.4 input jack that could potentially allow for 4K video recording at 30fps, and best of all its battery has been rumored to be a massive 12,100mAh. All of this should naturally be taken with a grain of salt for now, with CES 2015 around the corner and MWC 2015 following shortly after, hopefully we’ll find out more soon.
