Earlier this month, we did learn of how Microsoft managed to score a win over its bitter rival, Sony, in the realm of console sales figures with the Xbox One actually overtaking the PS4 for the particular month of November. However, in the big scheme of things, Sony does not have that much to worry about since the Japanese firm has successfully moved more than 16 million PS4 consoles ever since it was released.
In fact, during the week of Black Friday alone, Sony managed to sell a phenomenal 1,193,346 PS4 consoles – which certainly made up a healthy percentage of the lifetime sales of more than 16 million units. Assuming this particular bit of information that hails from VGChartz is correct without any deviant numbers hanging around, one can only make the assumption that Microsoft going one up on Sony last month in the US was an extremely close call, but you can be sure that Microsoft has made quite a meal out of it seeing how the Xbox One has played second fiddle to the PS4 for quite some time already across different markets in terms of sales figures.
This leads me to wonder – just how many units of the PS4 will Sony sell eventually?
