Samsung has been working on Tizen devices for a while now and recently it was reported that the first smartphone powered by this platform will be released soon. It was reported just yesterday that on December 10th the Samsung Z1, a smartphone powered by Tizen, will be released in India. The day has come and gone, Samsung hasn’t made an announcement, which is why a new report suggests that while the launch is imminent an exact date has so far not been confirmed.
The Samsung Z1 is supposed to be a low-end device. Costing just $100, it is rumored to have a 4-inch WVGA display with a 1.2GHz Spreadtrum SC7727S dualcore processor, Mali-400 graphics processor, 512MB of RAM, 3.2 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA camera upfront.
This smartphone is also expected to have support for dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, FM Radio and Bluetooth 4.0. The Z1 has already jumped through the FCC’s hoops so its only a matter of time before it hits the market.
A report by Tizen Experts claims that Samsung is going to announce the Z1 today in India, rather it will launch the device in the near future, but so far it hasn’t confirmed a release date. Samsung is interested in selling this device in the country which is why it has reportedly imported $1.7 million worth of parts to assemble this smartphone in India itself.
