Samsung Galaxy Alpha Was The First Phone To Use Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4

Back in November, Corning announced their latest glass in the form of the Gorilla Glass 4 and if you’re wondering which phone in the future will be adopting the Gorilla Glass 4 in its construction, it turns out that at least one manufacturer has – Samsung. According to Corning, they have recently revealed that the first smartphone to use Gorilla Glass 4 is none other than the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha was actually launched back in August which means that Samsung had access to Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 way before everyone else did. Combine that with its metal build, it’s safe to say that the Galaxy Alpha is one sturdy and sleek-looking device. Corning boasts that the Gorilla Glass 4 is its most damage-resistant glass to date.

The end result is a glass that is not only thinner, but tougher, and will afford better protection against damage from device drops, or at least that’s what Corning wants us to believe. For those who might have forgotten, here’s a quick recap on some of the hardware specs of the Galaxy Alpha.

The phone features a 4.7-inch display with a HD resolution. Under the hood there will be an octa-core processor accompanied by 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 12Mp rear-facing camera, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.
