Samsung ChatOn Messaging Service To Shut Down On February 1
While Samsung might have ventured into the world of instant messaging with their very own self-styled Samsung ChatOn messaging service, one ought to remember that companies do make mistakes from time to time – and ChatOn happens to be one of them. While there were whispers going around concerning the ChatOn messaging service being shut down in the past few weeks, it looks as though it has finally been confirmed – at least according to The Wall Street Journal. The official date as to when the Samsung ChatOn messaging service will shut down has been set for February 1st, 2015.
I guess there will be no love for Samsung ChatOn even before we celebrate the next Valentine’s Day. Of course, all rules will come with an exception, and for the Samsung ChatOn messaging service, it is no different since folks living in the U.S. will be able to enjoy it until the end of March next year.
Samsung’s reason for killing off ChatOn has been attributed to a “fast-changing market environment”, where this particular move is said to enable Samsung to place more focus on health and mobile commerce sectors. First launched in 2011, I don’t think ChatOn will be missed much.
