PayPal Updated On Play Store With Support For Samsung Fingerprint Readers
The marriage between PayPal and Samsung devices works. One happens to be a widely used service for online payments, and the other are some of the best selling devices in the mobile market today. The fingerprint sensor on certain Samsung devices can be used for authorizing PayPal payments, but previous the app hadn’t been updated on the Play Store with this functionality. That changes today. The PayPal app has been updated on Google Play Store with support for fingerprint sensors on Samsung devices.
One might ask how was it possible to use this feature before if the app hadn’t been updated on the Google Play Store. The answer is simple. Users had to download the PayPal application from Samsung apps because the Play Store version didn’t have support for the fingerprint sensors.
Not that it is a huge inconvenience for users to download an application from Samsung Apps, but perhaps being able to download it from the Google Play Store will feel more natural, since that’s the main source of content on Android smartphones and tablets any way.
Since only a handful of Samsung devices have fingerprint sensors right now the support for this feature is limited to devices like the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Tab S, Galaxy Note 4 or the Alpha. The feature allows users to avoid punching in their PayPal credentials and instead authorize the payment by simply swiping their finger over the sensor.
