People are increasingly moving their data in the cloud these days and service providers are catering to this influx by providing lots of cloud storage for a very low price. Companies like Microsoft also have the luxury of offering year-long subscriptions to their cloud service with many of the other products that they sell, apart from integrating it into virtually every other product and service. So what happens to your stuff on Microsoft OneDrive when your subscription ends and you no longer want to pay for it? Well, your stuff stays put.
Microsoft has confirmed to TechRadar that the company doesn’t erase data of a user when their OneDrive subscription runs out. All users get 15GB of free OneDrive storage anyway and they have to pay to get more. When they stop paying their data won’t be erased even if it totals over 100GB.
The company also confirmed that users will be able to view, share and even download files stored on OneDrive even after their subscription expires. The only thing that they won’t be allowed to do until they start paying for the service again is upload more files.
Additional storage is relatively cheap in the first place so if should one ever desire more, it won’t be tough to cough up some money for it, and until then any and all data will remain safe.
