It is no secret that for a while now, the Sony PlayStation 4 has managed to outsell Microsoft’s Xbox One console. However recently it looks like the tables are starting to turn according to a recent NPD report which has revealed that the Xbox One has managed to overtake the PS4 in sales for the month of November, covering both the US and UK markets.
This was confirmed to the folks at Gamespot by Xbox’s VP of marketing Mike Nichols. According to Nichols’ statement, “November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US and UK.” In some ways this doesn’t come as a surprise as back in November, there were several reports of the Xbox One performing very well.
For starters we learnt that the console managed to sell around 720,000 units during Black Friday and it was later revealed that the Xbox One had outsold the PS4 by a pretty huge margin – 53% to 31%. Unfortunately it looks like the Nintendo Wii U is still out of running and does not appear to be anywhere close to either the PS4 or Xbox One.
However that does not necessarily spell doom for Nintendo as analysts have predicted Nintendo will be making a lot of money from the sale of their Amiibo figurines. That being said, will Microsoft be able to maintain this streak or is the holiday season responsible for their spike in sales? We guess we’ll just have to wait until next year to find out, but in the meantime what do you guys think?
