Google has done a pretty good job with Google Maps, so that pretty much ensures you don’t feel the need for any other mapping service particularly if you’re on Android, the company’s mobile operating system. If Google Maps isn’t your cup of tea then Nokia HERE is a good alternative. It landed on Android a few months back but at the time it was exclusive to Samsung devices. Later an APK was posted online which was found to be safe on non-Samsung devices. Now though the Nokia HERE Maps for Android download is available directly from Google Play Store.
Since sideloading the app on a non-Samsung device could prove to be cumbersome to say the least, being able to download this app directly from Google Play Store significantly simplifies the matter. Just fire up the play store and download Nokia HERE Maps on your Android device. Furthermore, it will also make sure that you always have the latest version.
The updated app on Google Play, which is still in beta stage, also brings support for voice-guided navigation in 18 new countries including but not limited to Burkina Faso, Iraq, Libya and Paraguay. This brings the total number of freely navigable countries on HERE Maps to 118.
Nokia HERE Maps is available as a free download from Google Play Store.
