Technology is meant to improve our lives, make it easier and more efficient, and if you’re looking for ways to make your smartphone even smarter, Microsoft has recently released the Gestures Beta app for its Lumia range of Windows Phone 8 handsets. As the name already implies, this is an app that will rely on the use of gestures to perform certain actions.

One of which is that it will allow usrs to answer a call simply by raising their phone to their ear. Users will also be able to switch to speakerphone mode just by laying it down on the table, and they are also able to mute the phone’s microphone by turning it on and placing it screen side down on a surface.

It’s actually a pretty cool app but unfortunately due to its beta status, there will be limited functionality for devices like the Lumia 530, Lumia 630, and the Lumia 635, but hopefully future updates will bring about more functionality to these handsets. Other than that the app is expected to play nicely with Lumia devices that have the Lumia Cyan update or later.

That being said for those who own any of the three phones listed above, you can go ahead and download the Gestures Beta app via the Windows Phone Store.
