It was yesterday when we brought you word on how Microsoft mentioned that they were about to pick up the mobile email management application known as Acompli, and in that bit of news, there was no information on how much the deal was worth. Well, all of that has seen a veil being lifted, where we have discovered that this particular deal is reportedly worth over $200 million in total.
In this particular deal, Microsoft has ended up owning a startup which will assist people in being able to manage their email better when using a mobile device, regardless of whether it is running on Google’s Android or Apple’s iOS mobile operating systems.
This particular report of the acquisition cost was revealed by the news website Re/code, which means it is not official just yet. Microsoft’s very own official statement mentioned, “Our goal is to deliver fantastic cross-platform apps that support the variety of email services people use today and help them accomplish more. The Acompli team is passionate about this quest. Their app provides innovative ways to focus on what’s important in your inbox, to schedule meetings, and work with attachments and files.”
With Acompli ending up as a part of Microsoft, we could very well be treated to new product plans down the road, while existing Acompli users need not fret since they can continue using the app just like before.
