As an avid PC gamer I have fond memories of Microsoft Flight Simulator, spending countless hours trying to pilot a Boeing 747 using just the keyboard was undeniably fun. The game got the axe back in 2009 but almost two years later Microsoft released a new iteration called Flight. Unfortunately lack of interest forced Microsoft to kill that game as well. Flight Simulator is making a return though, it will be available on Steam from December 18th.
This has been made possible by Microsoft because it licensed the rights to the Flight Simulator franchise to Dovetail Games. This development house has considerable experience with simulators, it is behind the popular Train Simulator series. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition is the first title to come out of this licensing deal, so I’m pretty anxiously to know how it has turned out.
Dovetail has designed this title for Windows 8.1. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition touts over 20 different aircraft, 24,000 airports and 80 missions apart from an updated multiplayer mode. The title includes boht Flight Simulator X: Deluxe Edition and the Acceleration Expansion Pack.
Price has not yet been confirmed but Dovetail gives a positive sign, says that it will be introduced on Steam for a “spectacular introductory price” come December 18th.
