Well the good news is that we won’t have to wait too long to find out. Micromax has recently begun to send out invites to an event that will be held on the 18th of December. The invite also has the hashtag “#YULaunch” written on it, so we can only assume that this will be the official unveiling of the Yu brand of smartphones.
While we’re definitely excited to see what kind of phones they might be, Cyanogen has been courting a bit of controversy in that part of the world. With the company signing an exclusive partnership with Micromax, it also means that OnePlus One handsets bought in India will no longer be supported by Cyanogen.
This was confirmed by the company in a recent blog post in which they announced their decision. Obviously this will not sit well with OnePlus One customers in India, but for those who want a CyanogenMod-powered smartphone in India, perhaps waiting for the Yu phones to launch might be a better idea.
