Well, it looks like Mega’s Kim Dotcom wants in on the action as well and according to a recent announcement, it seems that Docom is looking to launch a fully encrypted video call and chat service in the future. This will be available as an application and can also be used in the user’s browser.
According to Dotcom’s tweet, “Mega will soon release a fully encrypted and browser based video call & chat service including high-speed file transfers. Bye bye Skype :-)” This isn’t the first time that Dotcom has mentioned this service, but his mention of “soon” has us believing that it could be launched in the near future.
No word on when this particular encrypted video chat service of Mega’s will be launched, but given that we’re only a few days away from the end of 2014, there is a good chance that we could be looking at a 2015 release. In the meantime Dotcom has pointed his followers to a video of Julian Assange and Edward Snowden in which the company’s upcoming service can be seen, albeit rather briefly.
