Similar to the Android feature, Secret Chat at the moment will only be limited to 1:1 conversations, so if you wanted to hold encrypted group chats, you will have to wait for KakaoTalk to include the feature or look elsewhere, although the developers have promised that the encrypted group chats will roll out within the first three months of 2015, so we guess you won’t have to wait too long for it.
KakaoTalk is definitely not the first app to offer encrypted chats. Back in November, WhatsApp announced something similar and we expect that in time, many other instant messaging applications will gain that feature as well. The update to the app also includes support for the new resolutions of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, bug fixes, and also the ability for users to decline being reinvited back to group chatrooms.
The updated app should be available for download via the iTunes App Store so head on over for the download if you haven’t updated already.
