iPhone-6-review-12

Smartphones that have significantly large displays are affectionately referred to as “phablets.” The iPhone has never been in that category until this year when back in September Apple launched the iPhone 6 Plus. This smartphone has a 5.5-inch display which puts it squarely in the phablet category and by the looks of this it will soon rule this category, at least in the U.S. Data from Kantar Worldpanel shows that the iPhone 6 Plus accounted for 41 percent of all phablet sales in the country.

That is a rather interesting achievement given the fact that this smartphone has been in the market for some three months now, that’s a relatively short time when you pit it against some of its rivals. Kantar’s data also shows that phablets are now responsible for 10 percent of all smartphone sales in the country, that’s a 2 percent bump from the same time in 2013.

A survey conducted by Kantar at point of sale shows that 58 percent of those surveyed bought the iPhone 6 Plus primarily because of its larger display size, something which many iPhone fans had been anxiously waiting for.

Despite this the iPhone 6 clinched the crown as the best selling iPhone model, accounting for 33 percent of the sales, with iPhone 5s following in second with 26 percent. The iPhone 6 Plus only accounted for 10 percent of all iPhones sales in the three months that it has been available in the market.
