Well it looks like Instagram has had enough of these bots and fake accounts and made good on their promise by purging these inactive and fake Instagram accounts. So exactly how big of a purge are we talking about? Well in the case of some celebrities like Kim Kardashian, they have lost as many as 1.3 million followers following the purge.
Then there are regular users like “chiragchirag78” who had boasted at having 4 million followers, but following the purge was left with only 8. In fact he was so devastated that he ended up deleting his account. Regular users with hundreds of followers have also seen a slight drop in the amount of followers they had.
Some are happy with Instagram’s move as it means less spammy posts, but there are those who are genuinely unhappy as this affects the advertising deals they get which are based on the number of followers we have. We doubt it won’t be long before those numbers are growing again, but for now if you see that you have lost a bunch of followers, you know the reason why.
