With HTC releasing a new flagship phone every year, we can only assume that come early 2015, we could be seeing HTC’s next-gen flagship smartphone, which at the moment has been given the codename HTC Hima. Now with MWC 2015 being a perfectly good platform to launch the device at, a recent post by @upleaks suggests otherwise.
According to the leaker, it seems that he/she is under the impression that HTC might not be making their announcement at MWC 2015. Instead @upleaks has speculated that HTC could be holding a special event of their own to make the announcement, which is pretty much what the company did this year with the HTC One M8.
We guess this doesn’t come as a surprise as an announcement at MWC has a chance of having the device overshadowed by the barrage of other announcements from OEMs. Not to mention the Hima is said to be a completely new brand of device and might not follow the One branding, so a separate and dedicated event could make sense as well.
In the meantime we have heard rumored specs of the HTC Hima which includes a 5-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 20.7MP rear-facing camera, 3GB of RAM, and the latest rumor has suggested gold, silver, or gray color options.
