High-End Sony APS-C E-Mount Camera Rumored For 2015

There have been multiple rumors over the months and years that Sony’s NEX-7 could finally be getting a successor. In fact one rumor had suggested that we could see the camera this year, but safe to say that did not pan out. Well according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they have heard from their “trusted source” that perhaps 2015 could be it.

Their source has informed them that Sony is expected to launch a new high-end APS-C E-mount camera in 2015, although when exactly in 2015 they did not specify. Their source also added that the camera will be placed above the Sony A6000 (which is actually a pretty decent camera for its price) which means we could be looking at the Sony A7000.

A rumor in October had suggested that the A7000 could be the name of the NEX-7’s successor and given Sony’s new naming scheme, it does seem likely. That and the fact that the camera is said to be of the APS-C non-full frame variety suggests that it could indeed be the NEX-7’s successor as the NEX-7 was not a full frame camera either.

In any case we have been disappointed with various NEX-7 successor rumors in the past, but hopefully this one will pan out, but in the meantime what do photographers think? What kind of features would you like to see in the NEX-7’s successor if and when it does launch in 2015?
