The NVIDIA SHIELD tablet has received many older PC games recently courtesy of NVIDIA and Valve, they’re back with another title that the tablet owners will probably like. The third Half-Life standalone title is now available for the SHIELD tablet. Half-Life 2, Episode One is now available for download via the Play Store for $7.99.
In order to play this title, the SHIELD tablet is required apart from the official SHIELD controller. Half-Life 2, Episode One is the sequel to the original Half-Life 2 shooter.
Originally released back in 2006 as a story expansion for Half-Life, which came out in 2004. Initially it was planned to release episodic content for the title regularly but that didn’t happen. Valve instead came out with a second episode in 2007 and since then there’s been no movement on that front.
So it goes without saying that at some point in time we might even get to see Half-Life 2 Episode Two on the SHIELD tablet, but for now we have to make do with the Gordon Freeman starring Episode One.
Gordon Freeman is the protagonist in this title with Alyx and D0g, two recurring characters. Gamers will get access to new cooperative elements in single-player campaign.
Those who have purchased the SHIELD tablet LTE will not have to pay for this title, they already got Portal and Half-Life 2 for free, so Episode One is being offered free of charge as well.
