Previously if you wanted to search for lyrics to a particular song, you’d have to enter the search terms in Google (or whichever search engine you use), allow it to search, then pick a website with the lyrics. However it seems that Google is hoping to make the process a lot easier for you by now listing the lyrics to a song in the search results itself, as you can see in the image above.
The results won’t display the whole lyrics although from what we can see, it will display a sizable chunk. If users want to check out the entire lyrics, users will need to hop on over to Google Play to see it in its entirety. For those who are just looking to confirm the lyrics or just want to know the chorus, this should do in a pinch.
However if you want to view the entire thing, we guess it won’t be too different from clicking a different lyric website. Google confirmed this feature in a rather playful statement they gave to The Wall Street Journal, “There’s a feeling you get when you turn to a song and you know that the words have two meanings. Well it’s whispered that now if you go search the tune, maybe Google will lead you to reason. Ooh, it makes you wonder…”
While no doubt this is a boon to users looking for a quick fix and a more efficient way of searching, we’re sure that the hundreds, if not thousands, of lyrics websites will not be too pleased by this as it basically takes away a lot of traffic from their website.
