Google Gifts Several Google Wallet Users With $5 Gift Cards

Did Christmas come early for some Google Wallet users? Well it certainly seems that way. According to a variety of reports from Google Wallet users, it seems that Google has recently decided to reward some of them for their loyalty to Google’s mobile payment service. These users are reporting that they have received a $5 gift card that can be used at a variety of places.

This includes locations such as Regal Cinemas, AMC Theaters, Staples, Whole Foods, and Toys R Us. We’re not sure if there are more retailers at which the gift card can be used at, but so far these are the ones that have been named. Sure, $5 might not seem a lot considering that your grocery shopping at Whole Foods could cost way more than that, but hey, free $5, why not?

It is unclear as to how Google determines how a user is “loyal” – perhaps how long you’ve had the app installed or how often you’ve used it. As expected this is a limited time offer and it does not mention when it will end, so if you want to see if you have a gift card waiting for you, all you’d have to do is launch your Google Wallet app and look to see whether you have received the “Have a great on Google!” message to indicate that you are one of the users who qualify for the $5 gift card.
