We’re tracking the Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out closely and after having made its way to Nexus smartphones and tablets, the update is slowly landing on Google Play Edition devices, not to mention the fact that devices like the Moto X and LG G3 have already started receiving Lollipop in many markets. Though the update hasn’t been released for this particular device, leaked screenshots provide us with a preview of Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition running Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Google Play Edition program consists of high-end smartphones and tablets from major manufacturers, including but not limited to Sony, Samsung, HTC and LG. Just yesterday we reported that Lollipop has already been released for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition.
These units offer near vanilla Android experience so they’re a good option for customers looking for a pure Android OS on a smartphone with flagship specifications. The Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition GT-i9505G was initially released with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean last year and was recently updated to Android 4.4 KitKat.
Now though the wait has begun for Android 5.0 Lollipop to land on this device. Samsung is testing it out right now and the screenshots, leaked by Sammobile, show that it doesn’t have any of the visual interface tweaks common with a Samsung device.
It hasn’t been confirmed when this update is going to be released for the public, so far a Lollipop build for this device hasn’t been leaked as well.
