Sunset Overdrive is a title exclusive to the Xbox One, which is why before it was released both Microsoft and developer Insomniac Games spent a decent amount of time creating hype for this game. A live action trailer was even released for Sunset Overdrive, which took months to produce, shortly before the game was due to be released.
It has become a norm now for video game developers to push out new content for a title that they have already released through DLCs. These downloadable content packs bring everything from new gear, weapons to additional missions and gameplay modes. For gamers this means they get more out of their game, for developers this means they get to make money off of the game even when they’ve sold it.
It was revealed during this week’s Sunset TV episode, which was guest hosted by Larry Hyrb for Xbox Live, that the first “massive story-based” DLC for Sunset Overdrive will be released later this month. The DLC is called “The Mystery of the Mooil Rig.”
This DLC will add an oil rig to Sunset Overdrive’s universe with new water-based moves. Hryb also revealed that gamers will get access to “more missions, quests and challenges to tackle.” New traps, weapons, amps and multiplayer chaos squad objectives are onboard as well. More information will be revealed in the coming days.
Sunset Overdrive season pass holders, for which they paid $20, won’t have to pay extra for this DLC. So far the individual price for this DLC has not been released. The Mystery of the Mooil Rig will be released on December 23rd.
