Over the past year Facebook has tweaked Pages multiple times, often based on feedback from users, to make sure that they were only shown content that would interest them. It has made yet another update to the Pages product and this time around its more cosmetic. The entire Video section of Pages has received a visual overhaul which shows what direction Facebook wants to take with this down the line.
Businesses that have Pages on Facebook will now be able to pin a featured video which will be displayed on the top of their Page. Alongside the extra-large video there will be a live comment feed and under it playlists of additional videos will be displayed.
The updated Videos section will look a lot like YouTube Channels which also have a extra-large featured video accompanied by playlists. For now Facebook is testing the new design with a few Pages but confirms to TechCrunch that it will be rolled out for all of them a few weeks from now.
The new design will be applied automatically to all Pages. Those that don’t have a featured video and playlists, the videos will then be displayed in a chronological list, alongside information like length, title, Like count and view count.
Facebook has been working hard to improve its video product and this is certainly a step in the right direction. Earlier today it was also reported that NFL fans on Facebook will see clips from the League in their News Feeds, these clips will be sponsored by Verizon.
