Online streaming giant Netflix has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into its original productions and it has paid off spectacularly, look no further than the following House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black have generated. The company is not shifting from this strategy in the coming year, rather its intensifying efforts, as eight original series are set to premiere on Netflix in 2015.
Netflix does things a little differently than some of its competitors. Amazon for instance first launches a round of pilots and then lets viewers decide which should be picked up for an entire season. Netflix simply announces that its working on a new original series and then releases all of the episodes at once, so subscribers can binge-watch in true Netflix fashion.
Two new series will premiere on Netflix in March 2015, Bloodline and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The former comes from the same creative team that’s behind Damages on FX while the latter comes from Tina Fey of SNL/30 Rock fame.
In May, Daredevil will premiere on Netflix as part of a deal with Marvel. No, Ben Affleck won’t be portraying the lead character like he did in the movie nearly a decade ago, that responsibility now rests on the shoulders of Charlie Cox.
Sense8, F Is For Family, A.K.A Jessica Jones, Between and Grance and Frankie are the remaining original series that Netflix will offer in 2015, launch timeframes are still TBA.
