For those who happen to be able to afford a BMW – I am quite sure that you would have been very happy with the kind of hardware and technology that your ride comes jam packed with. In fact, should you want to include new features to your ConnectedDrive BMW, the process was pretty simple (albeit expensive) since you had to purchase a new BMW. This modus operandi looks set to change from next year onward, where the US would introduce the ConnectedDrive Store so that owners will be able to pick up different services as and when required, and to download such updates to current systems.
Apart from that, this particular store would let owners add such new functionality via their home computer or to do so in a direct manner through the ConnectedDrive system in the car. All newly purchased BMWs will come with a SIM card within, which means it is but a matter of picking up the kind of service that you like, forking out a fee for it, before downloading it straight into the head unit.
The BMW ConnectedDrive Store has been up and running in Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany for a few months already, so it is nice to see it arrive Stateside later this coming spring.
